Artificial Intelligence (ShanghAI Lectures 2011)

Lectures about Natural and Artificial Intelligence are held via videoconference at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, the University of Salford/MediaCityUK in the United Kingdom, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, and about 12 other universities around the globe. Students from the participating universities work together on the exercises, using a powerful robotics simulator software.

Project 1: Passive Dynamic Walking

Passive Dynamic Walkers are mechanical devices that can walk down a slope without any actuation. They are usually inspired by the human legs and, despite a complete lack of motors and sensors, display a very natural-looking walking motion. In this project, I work with a simulation of a PDW in Webots, analyzing the PDW structure and walking behaviour.

Project 2: Swiss Robots

In this project, the heap formation behaviour of swiss robots was analysed. Several alternative designs were used based on exploiting constraints created as a consequence of the morphology and interactions with the environment.
